Jussie Smollett Loses Hoax Hate Crime Appeal, Faces Possible Return to Jail

Published: Friday 1st Dec 2023 by Sam

Jussie Smollett is once again facing a stint behind bars after losing the appeal in his long-running hoax hate crime case.

Full story below…

As reported, the former ‘Empire’ star was convicted for lying about an alleged 2019 attack – which he claimed at the time was both homophobic and racially motivated.

Smollet was convicted on five felony counts of disorderly conduct – a charge that can be filed in Illinois when a person is believed to have lied to police.

He was sentenced to 150 days (five months)  in prison, however was dramatically released just days later to proceed with an appeal.

The basis of the appeal saw the 41-year-old challenge the role of a special prosecutor, jury selection, evidence, and several additional facets of the case. However, a 2-1 opinion from the Illinois Appellate Court, saw his hopes for an overturning of the decision dashed.

Having lost that appeal today, he now faces the possibility of returning to jail to see out the rest of his term.

Smollett’s spokeswoman Holly Baird said, “We are preparing to escalate this matter to the Supreme Court” (a reference to Illinois’ highest court). She also stressed that another key factor is that the opinion of the appellate court was not unanimous.

Oh my god! Jussie was f****** innocent and he gets this? Disgusting! Why would a man create a fake hate crime! People just want to hate. #freejussie

Delusional …. Just like him 😭😭😭😭😭

      • Wayne T December 1, 2023

Really? So a celebrity beats himself and throws a noose around his neck for attention he didn’t need since he was already famous? People are so gullible and will go with whatever the media tells them. Btw you sound like an angry hater. Start thinking for yourself.

      • Helen December 1, 2023

Of course he did. All the evidence is there hence him being charged! He’s so narcissistic that he believes his own delusions. He wanted clout and he got it in the worst way! I see you’re a fan so put some money on his books or something. 😭😭😭

      • Wayne T December 1, 2023

Clout? Nah his music career was close to catapulting Jussie’s definitely made a musical mark thanks to his acting on
Empire. He’ll get out of this one like he did the last. You see god sees all and fixes anything that needs to be fixed and if anything, you’re the one who wants clout, jumping on the hate train hoping somebody can agree with you. Haters are always the saddest

      • Helen December 1, 2023

Hate train? He pulled this stunt during the height of racial tensions. Missssss me with your bs!!! His story didn’t add up, and he performed at some club a few days later hailing himself as the GAY TUPAC. It was clear that he wanted to be seen as some kind of gay hero martyr but he didn’t even attempt to plan that s*** carefully. Now look at him. BE FR😭😭😭 back to jail he goes clink clink!

Actually his story never changed and it’s kind of sad how you’re trying to take away someone’s power after they’ve not only been through a hate crime, but publicly villainized for telling the truth. So what if he called himself the gay 2Pac? he’s lucky to even survived that night, and the fact that he can still stand in his power shows how strong he is. Although nobody died
Jussie’s story is quite heartbreaking for anyone to go through. Imagine it was your brother or your son.

What did he expect. No one believes him. If he had just taken his L years ago this would all be behind him by now.

    • Wayne T December 1, 2023

What L is there to take when you’ve told the whole truth and people pretend you’re lying because they see someone’s downfall as entertainment. Stfu already

      • Me December 1, 2023

The L that he’s taking now! After the same evidence from several years ago STILL has not invoked any reasonable doubt about his guilt. If he had a believable defense we would’ve supported him and defended him. Almost everything he’s said in his defense has either been disproven or just isn’t credible enough to latch on to. Contrary to your accusation, his downfall is not entertaining at all, it’s actually very sad. Mostly because it was self inflicted.

      • Wayne T December 2, 2023

If he was so clearly guilty why didn’t he go to jail the first time? Bye sheep! Jussie’s story actually make a lot of sense once you finally decided to think for yourself. Just saying

No one ask what they were doing in the bath houses before all this went down? 👀

Typical attention seeking ghey. Wasted all of our time with this ghetto ass Tubi script. He really thought he could play in our faces and get away with it. Bye Juicy!

    • Wayne T December 2, 2023

Bye hater, Jussie’s avoiding prison just like he did before. Stop being a weirdo praying on his downfall because he’s actually accomplished things in his life. There’s literally no proof he was lying and his story never changed so….

Jussie thee narcissist is a piece of work. He really should have gotten 2 to 3 years. He needs to take his slap on the wrist and stop being a little beech. I hope he ends up on hair braiding duty. Bye, girl. Sucks to be you. 🤣💅🏾

A court of law has convicted and sentenced him. This will not change without new evidence. Unfortunately, I don’t see him being able to come up with any or ever letting it go. At this point there’s not much he or his supporters can do to change public opinion.

  7. Nicci B December 2, 2023

    LOL….

He should have come clean and said he had a substance abuse problem or mental illness. People would have been more gentle with him.

Speaking of the Smollett family, Jurnee is great in The Burial. The movie could’ve used a better name, but I liked it a lot more than I thought I would, probably 7.5 to 8/10. Whole cast was excellent.
